10-5-09 First donation for the main prize and the 1st sponsorized prize!

Well, it seems today we have some NEWS! Woa, apart from projects and game upgrades, we also have a couple of moves on the prize's side! hap has decided to support the contest by adding the first 20 euros to the count of the main prize. Every donation, no matter its size, is really appreciated, so if you feel the MSXdev contests are nice for you and you can contribute, please donate!

Apart from that addition to the main prize, he wanted to set a sponsorized prize, and here it is: Best MSX1+ game!. You may wonder what's the 1+ remark: obviously it stands for those games having add-ons that goes further from the limitations of the contest. Those ones do not get scores when judging the games for the main prize, so this sponsorized prize comes to give those wanting to make a game with some add-ons a nice reward. The prize for the Best MSX1+ game is 10 euros, already sent to the organization, but if someone feels hap's initiative fit his needs he can of course make this sum bigger by donating cash!

This has just started! Games, proyects, new prizes! Don't be shy, if you are a MSX developer, just join the MSXdev'09 now!

10-5-09 Updating contents from the past edition

Well, it is time to update some content we have been receiving to our email since the MSXdev'08 was closed:

The author of the dice game Limaribu, Arnold Metselaar, sent us the complete source code from his game, that is now available at its game sheet. It comes in a double package, one for the sources for MSXDOS2 and the other for the precomputed lookup tables generator: how it must me compiled and some other info is well documented at text files into both files.

Since the end of the MSXdev'08, the game that get the 2nd place, I Need Speed (by the CEZ GS) has been upgrading from the first MSXdev'08 version, fixing some details of this great racing game. Now you can get the final version of the game from the MSXDEV Team website! (sorry, Metalbrain, for us being that late!)

Finally, another game that gets a new version. This time is Vampier's PWND, the snake game from the last contest. It's author sent us a new version from the game with a TurboR speed hack, so those wanting to play it faster with a bigger MSX, go and download it now!

 2-5-09 Announcing the MSXdev'09!

Welcome back again to the MSXdev contests!. We are really proud of presenting you again a brand new edition of your favourite game development contests: so it is time for the MSXdev'09!. Take your time and explore all contents of our re-styled website!

  • Check the rules for this new edition of the contest. [Rules]
  • Take a look at all previous MSXdev edition games and download them for free! [Previous editions]
  • Check the complete list of released games! [Index of Released Games]
  • Wanna know more about the MSXDEV Team?. Meet the crew here! [MSXDEV Team]

The only change this time into the contest is a smaller time frame to make and send the entries (about 7 months). With this move, the organization is trying to push developers' time limits a bit in order them not to leave projects to the very last day, so they start their developments right now! So let's MSXdev'09 asap not to be caught by the deadline! In the other hand, there is another thing to announce, as this year will be the last one for Jon Cortázar into the organization of the contest. The MSXDEV Team and Karoshi Corp. member is getting really busy nowadays, and he wants to focus all his little MSX-time for developing games: so when the MSXdev'09 is closed, the MSXDEV Team will announce the new formation, or, if any, new additions inside the crew.

Browse the site, read about past editions, download tons of cool MSX games, and, if you are a developer, do not think more... just join the contest! ;)

Although the main prize and the jury has been not announced yet, stay tuned, as news will start to flow from this renewed MSXDEV Team website!

The MSXdev'09 fever has just started!. Join the fun!
